UMA Posts interesting all-UK Gospel category
I know this won't be 'new' news for a lot of you, but it's still worth
mentioning anyway: MOBO ain't the only nomination game in town.
Over the years the URBAN MUSIC AWARDS has been positioning
itself as a more street-friendly version of the MOBOs, and they
recently announced their nomination list for their forthcoming
awards...
And - again - while the calibre of artists are varied, interesting and
definitely deserving, I'll borrow a phrase I read the other day and
say one can't help but think UMA must have just gone with the
results of a Google search.
My view...?
The onus has to be on us, the UK gospel industry, to guide these

Regardless of what we might think of the results of these companies'
research, we are considered - at best - specialist or niche, and at
worse without enough financial clout to be taken seriously.
Like I said about the MOBO piece last week, that in itself raises the
complex question as to why we do what we do...
Does the presence of a gospel category further the propagation of
the gospel? This is one of many interesting questions that will
probably have as many answers as people you ask...
In the meantime, take time to vote, if you're so inclined.
UMA have given us an all-UK category - which MOBO didn't...
