Three days ago I was on the verge of deleting this message that my spam
filter had obviously missed (anything that starts with 'Congratulations' is more likely than not going to be dodgy, right...?). Somehow I went ahead and read it anyway.
And to say I wasn't prepared for what I saw at that time of the morning (4:40am - don't ask) will be a complete understatement: UKGShop.com had been nominated in the 'Online Download Store Of The Year' category at Fusemix.com's International Christian Music and Dj Awards 2008.
Fusemix.com, a US-based music and DJ portal, asked its visitors to help determine nominees
for the awards, as it intends to honour over 30 Christian artists & DJs from all over the world.
Plus - it was having the voting done by fans.
Voting started on midnight Thursday November 13th 2008.

Fusemix.com also seem to have quite a diverse range visitors/members, and the final nomination list is a truly global affair, with representation from Africa to Europe to South America, as well as the inevitable USA (it is an American site after all).
In addition to UKGShop.com being one of many holding up the UK flag (if you nominated it, THANK YOU - I didn't even know this was going on), there is a huge selection representing music, race, platform (social portals, magazines, music festivals), cranking my respect for Fusemix's selection process up several notches...
So, what UK names are on the list? Well, here's a sizeable extract:

If you're that way inclined, step out and vote for your favourite event/artist/magazine or whatever it is that takes your fancy. You can vote for a minimum of 5 and maximum of 45...
Even if you aren't going to vote, let me leave you with this little fact that I have been banging
on about forever:
This little industry of ours is PHENOMENAL.
We're create both tremendously exciting music and a sweeping music movement
using literally a fraction of the financial input of the US scene we're consistently
compared to (morseso by people within our scene who should arguably know better...)
Just ask the Europeans that seem to never have enough of our artists, or the Americans
that just love our sense of adventurous creativity....
