I've seen many come, and even more of them go. You have to sympathise
with people that - for whatever reason - had to give up.
In a scene where most have pretty much got to make their own way without
basic requisite support (record label backing, PR and publicity, marketing
and promotions and such) it does make for a pretty lonely journey.
And it certainly doesn't help when most of your home market's knee-jerk
reaction to anything you have to offer is that it is vastly inferior to the
typical US fare.
The fact that most of these imports are developed by some of the biggest
gospel labels on the planet seems to be a fact that most would rather
conveniently ignore (or are simply ignorant of).

THE BIG EVENT

THIS WEEKEND
The 13th Anniversary Reunion Concert and Live Recording!
It's a tough old race, this gospel thing...

So, wherever you are, please be upstanding for London-based IDMC, and
in particular the sheer tenacity of founder and leader JOHN FISHER, for
13 years of the group's existence, of ministry and performances,
throughout the UK, Europe and the Caribbean.
That's well over a decade. As in 156 months, or 4745 days....

Make room in your diary this Saturday the 1st of December, and stop by for the reunion and celebration concert. JOHN and IDMC never do anything by half measures, and this is planned as a big show-stopping birthday celebration, once again recorded for DVD (should you need a yardstick: the video production values of
their last live event, LIVE AND PHAAT 1, was ahead of its time).
IDMC plans to look back and appreciate the
beginnings, celebrate their successes (and those
who helped make them possible), and then set the
scene for what is yet to come. You will be taken
on a journey spanning 13 years.
Those who remember IDMC from back in the day
should have many fond memories, laughs and even
more triggered. Those who are just getting to
know IDMC will get a sense of the history there is behind the group, and the

Practice is in full swing with approximately 30 past and present IDMC members plus musicians - some of whom go all the way back to the original project PROVE ME in 1994.
The night will comprise of the Reunion choir singing some of IDMC's classic tracks (who can forget the inspirational LIFT YOUR HEAD UP), a showcase of cuts from the new project 'SOUL FOOD' by the current IDMC line up, media presentations and much more.

I've never really researched the length of time that groups tend
to stay on the grind, but a couple of years in full glare of the
public eye seems to be typical.
Consider that within the context of being around for 13 years.
In that time the IDMC roster and sound and even its name
has evolved.
IDMC also served as a springboard for many including NATALIE
PHILLIPS and BYRON BARRETT that have passed through the
IDMC machine in further developing their talent over the years.
