NOT 'GOODBYE'; MORE 'WE'LL BE BACK'...
BIT MORE ABOUT THE GROUP, THEN...
THIS COULD BE THE ONLY FOUND SOULS FAM ALBUM EVER MADE...
YOU STILL WENT AHEAD AND DID IT, THOUGH...

We have been together since October 2004. GC was originally in a group called FOUND SOULS, along with a rapper called M.O.G. (who just happened to be PRECIOUS J's brother).
Together they released a mixtape and an EP entitled HEARTFELT. The group we now know as DA FAM grew organically out of this duo and various friends of theirs. Sadly, M.O.G. quit the
group just before their second EP was completed. The remaining members renamed themselves 'foundSOULSfam' and released a mixtape CD in the summer of 2005, giving away over 700 copies...
Since then another member, DIVINE, has also moved on, leaving the current line-up.
That is possible. That is the main reason why we put so much into this album.
Being that we all have individual lives and individual callings that we believe we must walk in.

Four out of the five of us will be in universities outside of Gloucester in September 2007, and
GC will be attending a bible college in Gloucester.
We felt the need to show everyone what we are about and what we've been doing as a group for almost three years. This will also may be our final chance to reach out to the lost as a group through music...

I CAN APPRECIATE (AND I APPLAUD) THE SENTIMENT.
HERE ARE A COUPLE OF TOUGH QUESTIONS. YOU MIGHT EVEN ARGUE THEY ARE UNFAIR,
SEEING AS YOU'RE NEW ARTISTS:
(1)THERE'S AN ELEMENT OF 'PREACHING TO THE CONVERTED' ABOUT A LOT OF WHAT
WE DO IN GOSPEL MUSIC...
(A) DO YOU AGREE, AND
(B) WHAT'S THE SOLUTION (ASSUMING YOU DO AGREE...)?

TRUSAY: I do agree. A lot of the time artists are just repeating what they heard their pastor or a minister say on the pulpit the Sunday before.
I feel it's very important to understand ministry before we minister, and for us as ministers/artist to realize that those that don't know Christ would not have a clue about the church language that we use: 'give God the praise', 'salvation', 'saved'...
These words are foreign to unbelievers. Jesus used simple parables of the times he was in to explain heavenly things, and that is what we aim to imitate.
It all depends who the music is aimed at though. No
disrespect to artists that make music for Christians, because
that is cool, but we tried in this album to make it accessible
to non-Christians as well, but without watering the message
down, which was hard...

OK, NEXT QUESTION: HOW DO WE GET THE MESSAGE OUT
TO THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY NEED TO HEAR...?
TO THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY NEED TO HEAR...?

By getting out of our comfort zones. And being creative.
As we said earlier, Jesus used parables; we need to be creative and sometimes subtle with our music so that non-Christians will hear it.
The only problem is some Christians may accuse us of compromising - we have grown from
where they are at, and understand what they are saying. But we are led by God's Spirit and his Word... We uphold our biblical principles and our motives are pure, listen closely and you will hear that.
I am very excited to see how cross over acts are accepted in the mainstream, as many of our artists I feel are at a place where they could impact the world through getting our music in the charts and on channels, as GREENJADE's 'GUNZDOWN' on MTV BASE and VIZION's (the London producer/rapper) MERCIFUL GOD on BET has proven.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR UK GOSPEL...?
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT THE UK GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY AT THE MOMENT...?
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT THE UK GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY AT THE MOMENT...?
I think music videos will have a big part to play in the future of this segment.
United By ONE, UK Gospel.com, Myspace, RMusic TV (Genesis TV), Dream Essentials (God TV) and Gospel Link - that's what's good!
More collaborations, more outreaches, more concerts, more compilation CDs, better concepts, better PR, better distribution, better advertising and a music video now then
All of the above.. Hopefully!!!! Look out!

WHAT COULD BE BETTER...?
...AND WHAT IS FOUND SOULS FAM GOING TO DO ABOUT IT...?
...AND WHAT IS FOUND SOULS FAM GOING TO DO ABOUT IT...?
FOUND SOULS FAM's album, THE BEGINNING OF THE END (photo above), carries the same signs
as much of the contemporary music coming out of the UK at the minute: it's effervescent,
modern, street smart, but quite solidly rooted in Christian thought.
It's also provided one of my favourite tracks for 2007, the interesting and unusual 'THE ACCOUNT',
a clever retelling of the crucifixion story from two distinct perspectives.
This is a project - and a group - that are well worth checking out. The music is available to buy and
preview on UKG Shop.com. Like I keep telling you - don't take my word for it. Make up your own
mind - go have a listen!
