BBC 1Xtra, after five years, as the show is cancelled as part of schedule changes on the station.

FITZ's is the latest in what is rapidly becoming a long line of Christian broadcast casualties in mainstream media, following on from The NEW NATION newspaper dropping TONY TOMLIN's THE GOSPEL FLAVA page, also early this year.
2006 saw MARCIA DIXON end well over a decade on SOUL STIRRINGS on THE VOICE NEWSPAPER, and DAVE P's POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS on London's CHOICE
FM was moved from the traditional Sunday morning 'church slot' to midnight -
2:00 am on Sunday/Monday am.
People, it almost doesn't matter what your politics or opinions on this issue is (or are), two things are sure:

>
we need more BLACK CHRISTIAN STATIONS that present and represent high-quality music, discourse, thought and talent like FITZ, and other players
like him...
...AND it's becoming crucial that we come together as a communal force and
ENGAGE with mainstream stations and platforms that have gospel offerings:
show them why we're relevant, sensitively explain the value of what we do,
and intelligently illustrate the need for the gospel now more than ever...

Better we try doing that now, that having to write 15 million petition notices when yet another show is scheduled to be axed...
FITZ, nice one, mate: here's to a great final show, and congratuations on a great run. Hopefully we'll see and hear you somewhere soon!!

SAVE THE 1XTRA GOSPEL SHOW PETITION...
Almost inevitably, another call for members of the gospel community has gone out.
I think it's too little, too late, but at the same time we've got to try any and every
opportunity to see if we can save the gospel show!
The following is an email I received from influential PR personality MARCIA DIXON
a few days ago. I don't know if the email originated from her, but the sentiment is
quite clear nonetheless.
Can you do anything? Of course you can. Read it and ACT:

Next week sees the broadcast of the last of DJ Fitz Gospel Vibrations show on
BBC 1 Xtra, which has been an outlet where unsigned, British gospel music
talent could get airplay and share their music and testimonies to a wide
audience.
The show has been axed, but BBC might re-introduce it if enough people
protest. If you want Vibrations to remain on air, email
jenny.abramsky@bbc.co.uk, Director of BBC Audio and Music.
Let her know how much you appreciate this show and that the BBC does the
BME community a disservice by axing it.
