GOSPEL SHOW VICTIM OF SWEEPING CHANGES AT BBC 1XTRA
As part of a schedule update that begins on October 8th 2007,
BBC 1Xtra's 'VIBRATIONS' gospel show will be discontinued,
the BBC has announced.
VIBRATIONS was hosted by DJ Fitz (above) throughout its 3-year history, representing music from the esoteric and traditional to the cutting edge of Urban contemporary gospel.

The show became a staple of the UK radio circuit, supporting many acts locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. FOUR KORNERZ credit FITZ with breaking their massive debut single, CLAP CLAP.

The cancellation comes as part of a wide range of schedule and DJ changes being made at the station, and FITZ is one of nine DJs whose shows have been cancelled.

In what resembles a shift to make 1XTRA more mainstream friendly (a move similar to the CHOICE FM one of a few years ago), many specialist programmes have been discountined, and heavyweight BBC Radio 1 figures have been drafted in as Hip-hop DJ TIM WESTWOOD and the iconic RnB champion TREVOR NELSON are given permanent shows on the station
FITZ was a true champion of the broadest range of contemporary gospel music (his was the only
show I listened to WITHOUT FAIL almost every week of the year), and some of our stronger, more cutting edge gospel output has lost a truly supportive, uniquely national and international platform.

There are few other places where you would get to REGULALRLY hear the Soulful House and Broken Beat stylings of LISA MAYERS, alongside Dancehall, Grime and Hip-hop, as well as the usual RnB and Praise & Worship fare.

Here's to hoping FITZ will find a new radio home soon!
