NEW RELEASE
SECOND RELEASE IN SOLID SERIES RETURNS

I like the ACOUSTIC GOSPEL project series.
Not only does it cheekily defy your default assumption (it's neither
'Gospel' music in the traditional sense, nor really 'acoustic'), but it's
fun, and - joy of joys - quite consistent.
You'd have thought that would be a given at this stage in the evolution
of our industry, but hey...
I've lost count of the number of 'Volume One' CD recordings that have
come my way in the past few years that - for whatever reason - never
made it to the second instalment.
I also like it because it's from the ROCKHILL MUSIC stable, and
those guys know their stuff.

ROCKHILL MUSIC...
Not only is it home to the excellent GK REAL and KARL NOVA, but
ROCKHILL also runs a tight little ship (which is why I'm quite
comfortable using words like 'consistent' even though this is only their
second production of this range...)
Then there's also the multifunctional aspect of the series:

Then there's also the multifunctional aspect of the series:
- it's a charity project (for every album sold, ROCKHILL will donate
£1.50 to Christian Aid to help fund their work with international
partners such as Humanite Nouvelle, a charity which works with
street children in the Democratic Republic of Congo),
- it's a 'proper' artist showcase platform: you'll find old and new
names to discover and enjoy: 16 year old ZOE OPUTAH, winner
of 'Harmonise 2008', Christian Aid's gospel talent search...
- ALL 'BOUT CHRIST, AUNDREA NYLE, neo soul singer BIANCA

GREAT MUSIC...
The music stands on its own merit, reflecting the UK gospel scene's ready
willingness to consistently engage with contemporary sounds and styles,
and - as is typical of ROCKHILL - the production is solid and lush.
This collection (18 original tracks) also features a track specially written
by ISRAEL HOUGHTON, and sung by Hillsong Church London.
The marketing blurb says Acoustic Gospel 2 "has something for everyone:
Rap, Soul, RnB, Praise and Worship and traditional Gospel..."
If the first one is anything to go by, the project's likely to appeal to fans
of middle-of-the road, contemporary gospel in all its inclusive varieties (it
was apparently a surprise bestseller on the CrossRhythms Store)
AG2 will certainly be a very attractive option for those of you who perhaps
feel 2008 has been a bit quiet because of all these pesky kids doing their
Grime and Garage thing

EXCITED...
Akin Ogboye, co-director of ROCKHILL MUSIC: 'We have been really
excited by quality of the Christian artists that are around, and feel honoured
that we are able to include some of them on this project.
We were bowled over by the positive comments we received for the music
featured on Acoustic Volume 1 and believe that Acoustic Volume II will elicit
a similar response....'
Hear some of the album tracks live at the official album launch taking
place on Sunday November 16 at the Sway Bar, 61-65 Great Queen Street,
London WC2 from 6pm.
Artists featured on the project will be performing at the launch, and people
buying their tickets from the Acoustic Gospel website will get the album
included in the price.
